California Dreaming - Chapter Three

The following day went by way too fast, and I was getting more and more nervous about the date. It was only four hours away, and I had yet to figure out what to wear. So far, I had tried on 10 different outfits, but nothing seemed just right. And what about my hair? Up or down? Curls or flat? I didn’t even have the energy to worry about make up. Despite the stress, I had been able to relax long enough to do French tips on my nails. That was one less thing to worry about, but still only a small comfort.

The last few days with Michael had been so relaxing, but that was before I knew he was interested in me. That information changed everything. Now I was totally self-conscious about what I should and should not say, wear or should not wear. When I thought he only saw me as friend material it was so much easier. Now, I felt I had something to live up; I had to be perfect. Going from “Miss Normal” to “Miss Perfect” was no simple task, and I knew I couldn’t do it.

I finally stopped my frantic attempt to find something to wear and took a deep breath.

“Why did he ask you out?” I thought to myself. “Because he likes you, that’s why. And when did he start to like you? When he saw me on the video and spent time with me.”

I slowly began to relax. “Were you perfect then? No!”

I decided to just go as myself, no more no less, but my nerves were still a mess. I needed to calm down and breaking in my new tub seemed like a good idea. I ran to the bathroom, turned the water on, fetched a glass of wine, and dove into the soothing warm water.

Finally! I looked at myself in the mirror and was somewhat pleased with what I saw. I had chosen a white silk blouse with three quarter sleeves and small black buttons down the front. It was tucked down into classic black dress pants with a high waist. I accessorised with black heels and some pretty pearl earrings. I looked very sophisticated! I kept my hair straight and loose and the make up light.

I looked over my shoulder at my alarm clock; 7:50 PM. I looked back at my reflection and took another deep breath.

“Only 10 minutes ‘till your date with Michael Jackson.” I said it out loud and it sounded very surreal. My heart was pounding a mile a minute. I gave myself a last spray with my perfume and headed for the living room to wait for my date.

At exactly 8:15 he knocked on my door. I had been pacing back and forth ever since 8:02 and was sure I had been stood up. I learned later that when it came to Michael, being only 15 minutes late was quite an accomplishment. I was a bit offended because I always aimed for being on time, all the time, and so I expected other people to show me the same respect. But as soon as I opened the door and Michael handed me a single red rose and leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek, all was forgiven. He was dressed in all black with a satin buttoned up shirt, slacks and his signature fedora. He looked so handsome and sexy.

“Hey girl, sorry I’m late…. You look very pretty.” he said with a smile.

“Thanks” I said and looked down at myself and back up at him. “And you look….wow! You look really handsome Michael.”

“Stop it, you’re embarrassing me” he said and lowered his eyes, but I could see he was smiling.

“Sorry, but you look really good. Anyway, so where are we going?”

Michael looked up at me and answered. “Well not far…We’re not leaving the property. I hope you don’t mind that we’re not going “out” out. But that’s too risky, ya know?”

“That’s fine with me. It’s not the location that’s important, but the company.”

“I’m glad you think so…Come on”.

He reached out his hand to me and led me towards a waiting golf cart disguised as a Batmobile. He once again hammered the gas pedal and I was glad I was wearing pants.

“By the way, dinner will have to wait a while. There’s something we gotta try first. You’re not scared’a heights, are ya’?” Michael asked.

“Uhm, that depends on how high it is.” I answered, a tad worried.

“Don’t worry, it’s not that bad.” And with that, the took a sharp turn to the left, almost making me fall out of the vehicle. I kinda hoped I would never be in an actual car with him as the driver!

He put the cart into an abrupt stop in front of the huge Ferris wheel I had seen on my first day at the ranch. All the lights were lit and it was absolutely beautiful.

“So, whatta ya’ think? Pretty cool, huh?” Michael said with a smile.

“Very cool indeed!” I said as I looked up at the gigantic machine. “I can’t believe you have a Ferris wheel.”

Michael didn’t say anything but followed my gaze. After a few seconds he got out of the car, went over to my side and held his hand out for me. I took it and we went over to find us a seat.

“Ready girl?”

I nodded in response and Michael signalled the man operating the wheel. Soft music started playing as we began our way to the top. I couldn’t recognize the music playing so I asked Michael about it.

“It’s the Nutcracker Suite. You know, Tchaikovsky. I like classical music a lot. It gives you a chance to really live it, you know? It’s very powerful.”

“I guess so. It’s really lovely, Michael. I mean all this; the lights, the music, being here with you.” I blushed as I said this and I could tell Michael did too.

“I’m glad you like it.” He said without looking at me.

After a few rounds, the wheel stopped, positioning us at the very top. It was a bit scary, so I automatically scooted closer to Michael. When my thigh touched his I jerked at bit at the sudden electric current that went through me. I guess it was the intimate atmosphere; the two of us being all the way up here all alone with the romantic settings.

There was a slight breeze up here that made me shiver a bit. Michael instantly put his arm around me. Did I dare put my head on his shoulder? I decided yes…. And so I did. My heart was beating fast. I felt so nervous and didn’t quite know what to do with myself.

“Look, the stars are coming out.” He said in almost a whisper. I looked up and saw the pale beginning of night time emerging above us. When I looked down I caught Michael’s gaze and I forgot to breathe. I got lost in his pools of black and I couldn’t, nor wouldn’t, look away. His face slowly came closer to mine and I anticipated the kiss that I knew was coming in a matter of seconds. Michael’s hold on my shoulder got stronger as he was mere inches away from me now. I closed my eyes and prepared myself.

Suddenly our gondolar moved and my eyes flew open. The moment was over; we were on our way down again. Michael looked perplexed as he awkwardly removed his arm and cleared his throat.

“Dammit!” I heard him mutter under his breath. I smiled a little, as I imagined him having this all planned and timed. It was really very sweet.

When we were down on solid ground again, he took my hand as we strolled back to the waiting Batmobile and got in.

“So, ya’ hungry?” He asked.

“Famished!”

After a short drive he stopped at a roofed outdoor kitchen. Delicious aromas hit my nostrils and my mouth started to water. A chef was behind the counter cooking up something heavenly. We sat down at a round table adorned with a flower centrepiece. The chef had already put some of the food on the table and everywhere I looked there was one mouth watering dish after another: fresh fruit, steamed vegetables, fried rice, home made spring rolls, roasted potatoes, fish fried in coconut milk and last but not least, he brought over fried chicken.

I absolutely love food and I had to contain myself from actually drooling down my shirt. Michael must have noticed the possessed look in my eyes, ‘cause he started laughing at me.

“Haven’t you eaten anything today? You look like a lioness on the prowl.”

His voice woke me up and I realised how I must have looked. Damn!

“What? Oh, I only had breakfast… This all just looks so good and I had forgotten how hungry I am… And well, I love to eat.”

“Yeah, my sister is like that too. I’ve never been a big eater. Unless the food is served for me, I sometimes forget to eat.”

Michael indicated to me to dig in and so I did, and I tried my best not to eat more than he did. Luckily I discovered than when Michael does eat, he eats a lot.

After a dinner filled with lively and easy conversation, we moved over to a nearby couch and cuddled together under a blanket. The patio heaters were on, so I felt really nice and comfortable. He put his arm around my shoulder again and this time I leaned in and nuzzled against his neck, not feeling uncertain anymore.

I put my arm around his waist, feeling his hard stomach in the process. It had started to rain and the sound of water banging against the roof was the only sound that reached us. We just sat there with a nice silence between us. It was really very romantic.

Michael eventually broke the silence.

“Hey, you know what I’ve been wanting to do with you since yesterday?” he asked in a low mysterious voice.

“No what?”

“I’m not gonna say….I’m gonna show it to you instead.” He bent down, tilted my head up with his finger and kissed me. His tongue parted my lips, went in and searched for mine. It was a slow and lazy kiss and our tongues twirled around each others in a sensual slowdance. We were tasting each other. It lasted several minutes and when he pulled away, my entire body felt numb.

“Are you coming?” he said as he stood up.

“Coming where?” I asked.

“Remember, there was something I wanted to do with you?”

“This” meaning the kiss “wasn’t it?”

“No silly! We have to go inside.”

“But it’s raining!”

Michael stood up and pulled the blanket over his head. “Get under here girl”. I stood up to join him and we started running towards the house. There was no point in taking the Batmobile since it had no roof, so the blanket would have to do.

We made it there without getting too wet. Michael grabbed my hand and led me towards the couch of the main living room, now completely furnished. The room now looked homey and the fire in the fireplace really dotted the i.

“Ok, now you just wait here, ‘kay? And I’ll be right back.”

He turned around to leave but stopped and turned around with a devilish grin on his face. “Oh and girl, you might wanna stretch….’Cause I’m reeeeally good!”

He left and I sat back and tried to figure out what on earth we were going to be doing. Well, I knew what I wanted to do; that kiss still lingered in my body and I could still feel and taste his lips. Just at the mere thought of it, my body became hot. Oh god, I was burning and I desperately wanted Michael to put out the fire that was scorching out of control in my loins….

Footsteps sounded behind me.

“Ready girl?”

“I guess so.” I said nervously.

“Get over here then. This is gonna be great!” His face was lit up with boyish anticipation. I got up from the couch and headed over to Michael to find out just what I was supposed to get ready for.
